Young Hammers keeper hurt in car crash

West Ham U21 goalkeeper Jake Larkins was last night involved in a car crash on the A12 near Harold Park as he travelled to meet his teammates ahead of the Development Squad game at Southampton.

Fortunately, the youngster suffered only minor head and neck injuries, which were treated immediately at nearby Queen's Hospital in Romford, but the game was postponed anyway as a precaution. The 19 year old was discharged from hospital, where he was accompanied by his manager Nick Haycock and the Academy's Head of Sports Science Tom Smith, late last night and is now at home with his family, recovering. We'll get you an update on his condition as soon as we know it.

All the best Jake. Nice to see some care from his manager for a young player at a time like this.. can you see a first team game being called off in the same circumstances? Get well soon mate.
