One win enough for Premier League safety- Allardyce

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has told Sky Sports that he believes another three points could be enough to guarantee his side's Premier League survival. The Irons are currently sitting pretty at 12th in the table on 37 points and Allardyce believes 40 could be the magic number.

"We may have to sneak the total up one or two points but I certainly think 40 is good enough for now. Wigan, Southampton and Aston Villa have all put runs together so I think we'll need to get tot eh golden 40 to be sure. If you'd offered me our position now at the start of the season, I'd have cut your hands off, if that's the correct terminology."

The Irons boss is currently in negotiations with the club over a new contract and is clearly popular with his squad, with defender James Collins today publicly backing his boss over the new deal.

"Sam's one of the main reasons I came back, to work with him and he's been great. He got his tactics just right at Liverpool on Sunday and has done so all season and fingers crossed he can get the deal sorted soon."

Fair play to Allardyce.. highly telling that he's the only manager of the three promoted clubs to still be in the job he started the season in..
