Up for grabs: Hammers set for £7m reward for top half finish

West Ham will earn prize money of £7.15m if they can push on from now until the end of the season and land a 10th place finish, Sports Direct News report this morning.

The Premier League pays clubs £650,000 per league position, with the bottom club receiving £650,000, the 19th placed team receiving double that, at £1.3m and so on, with the league champions netting a total £13m. According to SDN, Irons bosses had planned for a 15th placed finish which would net the club £3.9m but now even more money could be on the cards, and the feeling within the club is very much that 10th place is a realistic achievement.

Hammers stars James Collins and Mohammed Diame have both said in recent days that a top half finish is the goal, and the word from club insiders is that the Irons can overhaul both Southampton (who they play this weekend) and Fulham, currently sitting in 10th place.

SDN's 'highly placed source' states that although overhauling Swansea City in 9th place "may not be feasible," the club "believe we can overhaul Southampton and Fulham and we have had a remarkable first season back."

TV money going up next season as well.. good times to be in the top flight!
