Team news update: Cole to make injury return v Wigan

West Ham's injury problems seem to be getting better, as according to co-chairman David Gold, Joe Cole could make his comeback from injury in today's game at home to Wigan Athletic.

The midfielder has been out of action with a recurring hamstring injury suffered in the 1-0 victory at Stoke City last month and was expected to miss out, but Gold tweeted yesterday confirming that the former Chelsea man is fit and ready for the game.

"Just spoke to Joe Cole. He's in the squad for tomorrow's game against Wigan and available for selection."

Boss Sam Allardyce is said to be considering starting the influential playmaker in a game that could see the Irons seal their Premier League survival with a win.
