Neville say never- Hammers target Everton skipper

West Ham are keen to sign former England full back Phil Neville, Sports Direct News have reported in the last couple of hours. The Everton captain today announced his intention to leave Goodison Park at the end of the current campaign but told Sky Sports earlier today that he intends to extend his career, saying that  he wants "to carry on playing at the top level for as long as I can."

Now, it seems that a move south could be the next step for Neville, who signed for Everton in 2005 after joining from Manchester United, where he started his career as a young player. SDN's source states that the left back position is a priority for Hammers' boss Sam Allardyce and that after numerous failed attempts to sign Blackburn's Martin Olsson, the 36 year old is the next name in his sights. The Irons are believed to be prepared to offer Neville a one year contract at the Boleyn Ground.

I'd keep an eye on this one if I were you.. we could certainly do with some leadership in that dressing room! Bit of a Brian Clough-Dave Mackay scenario perhaps...
