DONE DEAL: Henderson for Ipswich- end of season loan. Confirmed by club.

West Ham goalkeeper Stephen Henderson will be on loan at Championship side Ipswich Town for a second spell this season and will spend the rest of the season there, after the Hammers and Ipswich agreed a deal. This move leaves the Irons short of goalkeeping cover, so have inserted a clause specifying a 24 hour recal option into the terms of the loan agreement. This should be West Ham's last piece of transfer activity this window with 17 minutes to go till the window closes.

No bids for Diame- Sullivan

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan has denied reports that an unnamed Premier League club has activated Momo Diame release clause written into his West Ham contract. Sky Sports reported earlier in the evening that a bid had been made, but Sullivan has just refuted this, saying "no bid today from any club, let alone one which invokes his release clause." This comes after Sullivan's son Jack, 13, also denied the reports on social networking site Twitter and co-chairman David Gold also denied the reports. 22 minutes to go till the transfer window shuts- safe to say Mohammed Diame will still be a West Ham United player tomorrow.

DONE DEAL- Diarra departs: club confirm

Alou Diarra has signed for French side Rennes on a 6 month loan deal with a view to a £2 million permanent transfer over the summer, Sky Sports have just reported. The 31 year old has just passed his medical and will join his news side immediately. The news was reported this afternoon by Blowing Bubbles and now it has been confirmed by West Ham, who have just issued a press release confirming the big Frenchman's departure.

Contrasting media reports over Diame- confusion reigns

The media are split, it seems, over the fate of Momo Diame. Sky Sports reported twenty minutes ago that the midfielder release clause written into his West Ham contract had been triggered. BBC Sport's Ben Smith, however, is adamant that he has "been assured by a very good source at West Ham that there has been no bid for Diame, yet." Hammers co-chairman David Sullivan's thirteen year old son, Jack, always a reliable source of West Ham news, just tweeted that "contrary to reports there has been no bid for Diame today from anybody." How much of the young Sullivan's tweet is fact and how much is what his dad is telling him to say until it's convenient to be truthful is open to debate; but the Diame saga, ambiguous all transfer window, is no clearer than it was at the start of the window.

Hendo headed to Ipswich- updated

West Ham goalkeeper Stephen Henderson could be headed back to Ipswich Town, where he recently spent a productive loan period, according to Sky Sports. The Irishman was all set for a move to Ipswich's Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers as part of the deal that was to take Rovers stopper Paul Robinson to Upton Park, before the deal fell through. We'll keep you updated with this as soon as we hear more news.

Sources from Ireland are now suggesting that a deal has been reached with the Tractor Boys for a second loan spell for Henderson at the Championship club- we're just awaiting official confirmation from both clubs now.

Unnamed Premier League side activate Diame's release clause

It's happened. Sky Sports have just reported that an unnamed Premier League side have made a bid for Mohammed Diame and activated his release clause- previously reported as £3.5 million but according to various sources over the last few days, believed to be closer to £7 million. The Senegal international has been linked with a move away from Upton Park since before January, with Arsenal, Tottenham, Queens Park Rangers and Aston Villa all reportedly interested. More on this as soon as we hear it.

West Ham sign young Swedish star

Highly rated Swedish teenager Rinor Nushi has signed a contract at Upton Park. The 17 year old winger, who recently had a productive trial with the Hammers, has joined from Swedish side AFC United and will join up with the rest of the squad this weekend. Nushi is regarded as one of the brighetst young talents in Sweden, so although tonight is likely to be pretty quiet for us Irons, this new signing is certainly one to look out for in the future.

New Leeds signing Warnock- "I was on my way to West Ham"

Another one bites the dust as Aston Villa's versatile full back Stephen Warnock has joined Championship side Leeds United in the last hour. The ex England international, who will wear shirt number fifteen at Elland Road, was strongly linked with the Hammers on Sunday and was reported as being set for a medical at Upton Park with a deal being agreed with the Villains, but Leeds reportedly offered the 31 year old a more long term contract than was on the table from West Ham and so moves to Yorkshire.  Our sources say that further deals for the Irons are unlikely before 11pm so could be a boring night for all of us of a claret and blue persuasion. As ever, we'll keep you bang up to date with any news as soon as we hear it.

Young goalkeeper Nemrava Vits the bill for Irons

West Ham have signed 17 year old Czech goalkeeper Vit Nemrava on an 18 month loan deal. Vladimir Krejci, Nemrava's manager at his current club, FC Slovako, stated that "it's a big success for our club and the local college- it's not often that a player from Slovakia joins a Premier League team." The deal runs to summer 2014 at which point the Hammers will have the option to buy the Czech Republic U17 stopper.

Marseille make late offer for Rat- but appears all bids are off

French giants Marseille have made a late bid for West Ham target Razvan Rat; but neither club looks likely to land the Romanian international left back as the 31 year old's manager is unwilling to let him go. Shakhtar Dontesk boss mircea Lucescu was quoted by Sky Sports as saying "I cannot let Rat go just before the end of the transfer window because I cannot find another left back so soon." There has so far been no news on any of the Irons' other left back targets as the position of goalkeeper has dominated the claret and blue headlines so far. Will there be any more signings for the Hammers, with just over six hours till the window shuts?

Hammers target Scotland keeper McGregor

Just over an hour ago, sources intimated that West Ham had pulled out of a deal to sign ex England keeper Paul Robinson from Blackburn Rovers- and a little bird told Blowing Bubbles that part of the reasoning behind that was that a better alternative had become available. Well, another little bird has informed us that the first little bird was correct; a better alternative is available. Alan "Shagger" McGregor, Scotland's number one and former Rangers keeper is currently plying his trade for Besiktas in Turkey and the Hammers are planning a late bid. With less than seven hours to go to the deadline, this one is set to go all the way to 11pm. Don't go anywhere!

Diame in contract talks this hour

Momo Diame could finalise his new West Ham contract this hour, reports suggest. Blowing Bubbles understands that the midfielder is having talks with Irons vice chairman Karren Brady between now and 4pm, and so there could well be some big news for West Ham on deadline day, after all. Don't go anywhere; we'll let you know as soon as we do!

Robbo's a no-goer: deal off

Blowing Bubbles understands from BBC Sport's Ian Dennis that the proposed deal to sign Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson has been cancelled. The ex England goalkeeper was set to have a medical at Upton Park today but has spent today at Ewood Park negotiating the terms of the pay off his contract with the Championship side, and the deal is reportedly now "not happening." It is not clear what the issue with the deal is, but a little bird tells us that a superior alternative becoming available was a factor in the deal being cancelled... keep watching.

BREAKING: Diarra leaves for Rennes- done deal.

Blowing Bubbles understands from sources in France that Alou Diarra's loan move to Rennes has been finalised, subject to a medical, for which the player is currently in France with a view to sitting- and that the transfer will see him go to the French side for the remainder of the season, and is with a view to a £2 million deal. The 31 year old has made it clear his wish to leave the Hammers and now has his wish granted. It is not yet clear how much of Diarra's wages West Ham will pay while he is plying his trade in France. Confirmation is expected on whufc.com in the next couple of hours.

Spurs line up last ditch Diame bid

According to ClubCall, West Ham's London rivals Spurs are preparing to make a deadline day bid for midfielder Momo Diame. The North London side, who have just signed German international midfielder Lewis Holtby, and who were thus thought to be no longer interested in Diame having already filled his position, are reportedly still mulling over a bid. The Hammers themselves are reportedly ready to offer Diame a new contract in a bid to get him to stay at the club. This one's clearly going to go all the way to 11pm, we'll, as ever, keep you posted...

Hammers hopeful over Diame- potential deal tomorrow

In further news on Momo Diame, club sources have told BBC Sport's Ben Smith that West Ham are hopeful the Senegal international will sign a new deal with a club- possibly as early as tomorrow. The Hammers maintain they have not received any inquiries or any bids for the 25 year old, and with the side in poor form, are desperate to tie their star man down to a longer term contract. Having withdrawn one new contract offer, which was believed to include a wage rise taking the player's weekly wage up to £50,000 a week in return for the removal of the release clause inserted in the original contract, the Irons are prepared to renogotiate with the player. However, Blowing Bubbles' source informs us that Diame is not willing to change the clause, and West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is said to be growing weary of what looks like a never-ending contract merry-go-round with the player, and the manager is pursuing other transfer targets to replace Diame in the event that he does leave. With less than ten hours left of the transfer window, a club will have to make a bid soon. It will certainly be interesting to see what what the future holds for Manouevring Momo if no bids are made...

Robinson move stalls as keeper irons out Ewood Park pay off

West Ham's move for Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson has hit the buffers for the meantime as the 33 year old holds negotiations with the Championship side to sort out the details of his contract pay off. According to BBC Sport's Ben Smith, Rovers have told the ex England international he can leave the club but there are still details regarding his departure and pay-off to finalise. As soon as Robinson has agreed a settlement with Blackburn, he is expected in London for a medical with the Hammers. More when we know it.

Late twist in Diarra drama- West Brom interested

There could yet be a late development in the complex transfer drama surrounding Alou Diarra. The France international, 31, had looked set to sign for French side Rennes on a six month loan, with widespread reports in the French media of an imminent anouncement of the signing from the Ligue One outfit, but sources inform Blowing Bubbles that our Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion have made an inquiry for the player. All will become much clearer over the next few hours- we'll keep you posted!

Hammers in talks with young French star

Valenciennes president Jean-Raymond Legrand has told Sky Sports that three Premier League clubs- including West Ham- are in talks with his club's young defensive prodigy Nicolas Isamat-Mirin. The 21 year old centre half is highly rated in France and has made three appearances for the French U21 side. The only catch for the Irons is that as part of any potential deal, the Ligue One side would want Isamat-Mirin to stay with the club for the remainder of the campaign and complete his move to England in June- not ideal for a West Ham side who need defensive reinforcements immediately. Reports from France claim that Legrand was at last night's defeat at Craven Cottage ahead of proposed talks; his star man has also been linked with Fulham, as well as Newcastle. This one could well develop, so keep watching Blowing Bubbles!

Robinson deal nearly there

West Ham are close to completing a deal for Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson, according to the East London and West Essex Guardian. Rumours began circulating yesterday morning that the one-time England number one was on his way to Upton Park, and by lunchtime, the word was that the 33 year old was in talks with the Hammers- and is believed to be in London today for a medical; having been told by the Ewood Park side that he was free to leave the club. The deal could potentially take young goalkeeper Stephen Henderson in the opposite direction as both clubs look to tie this one up before the window shuts tonight. We'll keep you posted!

No move for Maiga- Marseille and Bordeaux both pull out of loan deals

In another good piece of news for us Irons (Christ knows we need some), Mobido Maiga looks set to stay at the club beyond the transfer deadline. French sides Marseille and Bordeaux both expressed an interest in signing the Mali international a few days ago and a loan move looked on the cards, but according to The Ligue One Show's Matt Spiro this morning, Les Girondins have pulled out of the deal after West Ham stated that they would not pay any of the pacy attacker's salary as part of any loan deal; and Sky Sports reported soon afterwards that Bordeaux are now not interested in a deal for the same reason. With our side struggling to score and lacking any real bite in attack, surely it is time for Big Sam to ditch the 4-5-1 and give Maiga his chance up front with Carlton?

Diarra off to Rennes

Reports from France are suggesting that wantaway West Ham midfielder Alou Diarra has found at least a temporary exit from his "Upton Park hell" in the form of a six month loan deal to Ligue One side Rennes. The big France international has publicly made clear his desire to leave the Boleyn Ground and hopefully now will be granted his wish. L'Equipe report that the Irons will continue to pay part of Diarra's salary during the loan; it is not yet clear what percentage however. Confirmation of the deal as soon as we hear it.

Hammers line up Diame replacement- but Toulouse refuse to sell

With less than 24 hours of the transfer window remaining and star midfielder Mohammed Diame's future still very much hanging in the balance, West Ham have been monitoring Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue, according to TalkSport. The French international has spent his entire career at Toulouse since making his debut in 2007 and is highly rated by the club. As such, they are unwilling to sell him- particularly with his central midfield partner Moussa Sissoko signing for Newcastle United a few days ago. The Ligue One club's manager, Alain Casanova, showed the Irons no love and strongly implied that no deal would be possible before the close of the window. So it looks like it's back to the drawing board yet again for Big Sam, who will be desperate to get midfield reinforcements in after last night's pathetic performance at Craven Cottage.

No deal yet for Beckham

We understand from our earlier source that West Ham have not yet agreed a deal for former England captain David Beckham. The Irons have been linked with the 37 year old on a number of occasions and are currently 11/10 on favourites with the bookies to sign the former Manchester United star, but after being told by the club that they weren't "willing to comment on speculation" and hearing from our source that no deal had been agreed, it will come down to deadline day tomorrow to see whether the Hammers will sign the one-time England captain.

Marseille like a Rat up a drainpipe: Hammers set to lose out on Romania star

West Ham are about to lose out on yet another transfer target as French side Marseille push ahead of them in the race to sign Razvan Rat. The 31 year old's club Shakhtar Donestsk are ready to sell him after talks over a new contract broke down, and Marseille, sitting third in Ligue One are now favourites to sign him, with reports in France claiming that a deal could be sealed in the next 24 hours. This will come as another blow to Hammers fans anxious to see the squad strengthened before tomorrow night's transfer deadline- are we going to see any more new signings?

Hammers Tou-louse out on Rabiot: teenager to join French side on loan

West Ham are set to lose out on rising French midfield star Adrien Rabiot, as the midfielder prepares to join Ligue One side Toulouse on loan from Paris St Germain. The Irons were linked with the highly-rated attacking player, but the problematic left back position has clearly been manager Sam Allardyce's priority this transfer window, so the gaffer can hardly be blamed for focussing on strengthening our weakest link. It would be nice if we could sign another attacking midfielder before the deadline however- the Hammers have lacked a midfield spark in recent games, with the attacking movement being somewhat flat and one-dimensional.

West Ham confident of Diame new deal

According to BBC Sport's Ben Smith, the Irons are increasingly hopeful that Mohammed Diame will still be a West Ham player on February 1 and will sign a new contract at Upton Park. According to Smith, the Senegal international release clause is not £3.5 million after all and is "a lot closer to £7 million." The Hammers made a contract offer to Diame last week in which a reported 20% wage rise was offered in exchange for the removal of the clause. This offer was yesterday rescinded by the club, with Diame reportedly stalling over signing the deal amid supposed interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Aston Villa. However, the club are believed to be prepared to re-oepn negotiations on the big midfielder's contract as they look to tie him down on a more long-term basis. According to West Ham manager Sam Allardyce, the main stumbling block is Diame himself who, Smith reports, "changes his mind from one hour to the next." Another fraught deadline day looming then...

Reid likely to start at Craven Cottage

Blowing Bubbles understands from sources close to centre half Winston Reid that the New Zealand international, who limped out of the 5-1 defeat to Arsenal last week clutching his groin, is in line to start the Premier League match against Fulham this evening. Reid, who has had scans on the injury, has we understand, been told the problem was only a slight strain and is nothing serious; meaning the defender is in line for a return at Craven Cottage tonight. This news will come as a big boost to manager Sam Allardyce, who had been fretting over the fitness of his defenders, with James Collins, George McCartney and Dan Potts all still sidelined with various problems. Good to have you back, Winston!

EXCLUSIVE: sources close to ex England captain Beckham say he has signed for West Ham

Blowing Bubbles' sources tell us that the Hammers have signed David Beckham on a one year contract. The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Milan midfielder, who has been training for Premier League rivals Arsenal in recent days, has been linked with the Hammers before, and according to our sources, has signed with the club he watched as a boy. In recent days, the Irons have become the bookies' favourite to sign Leytonstone-born Beckham; who reportedly has also received offers from Premier League rivals QPR and French club Monaco. More on this as soon as we get confirmation- keep watching our website, Facebook and Twitter!

Big Sam blasts away form

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has insisted that his team has to do better away from home than they have been in recent games.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Fulham, Allardyce recognised his side’s lack of goals has been a problem.

Allardyce said: “"The biggest message is to play better than we have been away from home. We haven't been able to secure a clean sheet for an awful long time. That and the shortage of goals particularly away from home - we've got to improve all of that.”

He also hopes that despite a winter break, Emanuel Pogatetz will be fit for inclusion in the squad, while Blowing Bubbles revealed exclusively on Monday that big striker Andy Carroll, out injured for the last two months, is set for a place on the bench tonight.

Big Sam’s side will play the game with the known confusion surrounding central midfielder Momo Diame and Alou Diarra. The Hammers have to move on and focus on getting an important three points.

Hendo heading out?

Hammers’ reserve goalkeeper Stephen Henderson may make his Upton Park exit before the transfer window closes.

Henderson is being linked with Championship club Blackburn Rovers, which would reportedly be part of a deal taking Rovers’ ex-England international keeper Paul Robinson to West Ham.

Last week, Mick McCarthy also showed interest in bringing Henderson to Ipswich, where the Irishman spent the last two months of the season on loan.

Paul Robinson has already played under Allardyce at Blackburn, and is currently out of favour at the North West club, having been strongly linked with a move away in the summer.

With so many strong connections for both goalkeepers with managers of prospective clubs, a deal could well be struck as we edge closer to deadline day.

Un, deux, Troisi- Irons after ex Newcastle midfielder James

West Ham have been linked with Australian international midfielder James Troisi. According to Sky Sports, the Hammers face competition from West Bromwich Albion for the 24 year old Socceroo, who currently plys his trade for Serie A side Atalanta. Troisi can play on the left flank or down the centre, and has an impressive CV for a young man. He was once on the books of Premier League rivals Newcastle, who let him go at the end of the 2007/2008; he then enjoyed productive spells at Turkish sides Genclerbirligi and Kayserispor, before signing for Atalanta via Juventus as part of the deal which took Manolo Gabbiadini to Bologna. Bi Sam may be tempted to add more attacking depth to his squad, with the Hammers's strikeforce looking somewhat blunted in recent games.

Irons enamoured with Amorebieta

Spanish newspaper AS are reporting that Athletico Bilbao left back Fernando Amorebieta, a Venezuelan international, has decided to leave the Spanish club on a free transfer at the end of this season. The news is a shock for Spanish football, as the 27 year old has been Los Leones undisputed first choice left back for the last seven and a half seasons; and has a big reputation in La Liga. West Ham are reportedly interested, according to Sky Sports, as are Premier League rivals Everton and Stoke. Aside from recent signing Emmanuel Pogatetz, Amorebieta is the fifth left back the Hammers have been linked with in the last three days; with no further news on moves for Martin Olsson, Stephen Warnock, Aly Cissokho, and Razvan Rat; and it is very clear that Big Sam will stop at nothing to land one of his targets. The manager said yesterday that with transfers in January, "ninety nine per cent of the time, you are wasting your time," so it's safe to say we can imagine more left back related rumours in the next 30 hours!

Hammers scuttle after Rat

West Ham are reportedly considering a late swoop for Shakhtar Donetsk left back Razvan Rat. The Romanian international is out of contract in the summer and, according to Sky Sports is unlikely to agree a new deal before September so the Ukrainian club would be keen to sell. The Irons have already signed a left back in the form of Emmanuel Pogatetz, but may well want to sign further cover, with first choice George McCartney still a long term absentee. Rat has a glittering trophy cabinet which includes Romanian and Ukrainian titles, as well a 2009 Europa League winners' medal. If Big Sam was playing Football Manager, his scout would be telling him that the 31 year old "could really add something to the team."

West Ham target Amalfitano likely to leave Marseille

Morgan Amalfitano, a transfer target for the Hammers according to TalkSport, has said today that there's a good chance he could leave his club before the transfer deadline on Thursday. The 27 year old, who plays as a wide midfielde but can also play in an attacking role or in central midfield, is also reportedly being tracked by Reading, who may up their chase of him after seeing a bid for Blackpool ace Tom Ince knocked back by the Championship club. Amalfitano made his international debut for France in February of last year but is reportedly unhappy at Marseille and handed in a transfer request at the end of last season. The Irons have noticeably been lacking firepower through the centre of midfield in recent games so now could be the time to pounce, with the Frenchman telling France Football today that "there is a likelihood of a possible departure- you never know what football holds."

Maguire motivated to perform

Young striker Sean Maguire has revealed that he can’t wait to settle into Premier League life with West Ham, but admits he has been slightly frustrated.

The 19-year-old has told the Evening Herald that after having two reserve matches postponed, he is very happy to have finally worn a West Ham shirt.

The Irishman made his Development Squad debut in the 2-0 victory against Arsenal on Monday during which he played as a winger, which is not his preferred attacking position.

Maguire said: “"Some people are expecting me to be the next James McClean or Shane Long, because I went to a Premier League club from the League of Ireland, but I just want to do myself justice and get myself established in the reserves first and then, hopefully, the first team, like I did with Waterford United.”

He aims to score a Premier League goal by the end of the season, but he knows that he has another couple of years to prove himself.

He certainly seems to have his head screwed on and is a driven young man. The club must nurture him and ensure he doesn’t get too frustrated with lack of playing time.

Pogatetz happy and raring to go

New West Ham signing Emanuel Pogatetz has spoken to whufc.com about his move to East London and he is ready and raring to play.

The Austrian, who signed last night, revealed his happiness to be back in the Premier League and England, and that he will revel in playing in front of such passionate supporters as the Upton Park faithful.

When asked about his fitness, Pogatetz replied:"I feel I am ready to go. I am looking to play games and train with the lads. I think I am OK but it is up to the gaffer when he wants to play me.”

Pogatetz, 31, signed a loan deal for the Hammers till the end of the season for a reported loan fee of £500,000, and he hopes he can fulfil his desire to play the centre back role, but luckily for West Ham, given recent injuries to George McCartney and Dan Potts, he is also able to play at left back.

Let’s hope that he remains fit and well and manages to adapt back into the pace of the Premier League.

New twist in Diame saga- Villa interested

In a surprising development to the Mohammed Diame debacle, Sky Sports have reported two things: firstly, an elaboration from West Ham boss Sam Allardyce on his earlier statement of confusion; Big Sam can officially clarify that he has literally no idea what's going on with Diame, particularly who he's signing for (cheers, gaffer.) More interestingly, an unlikely club have joined the race to sign the Senegal international- Aston Villa. The Midlands side; who the Irons were all set to do business with over 31 year old wing back Stephen Warnock, who is expected to be confirmed as a Leeds United player within the next few hours; are now apparently interested in Hammers star Diame, but like Arsenal, Tottenham and any other side that might be interested in the midfielder, have not made an inquiry of any kind. The Villains had not registered any previous interest in Diame, so this latest development comes as something of a surprise. It seems unlikely, however, that the big number 21 will been keen to join a side in relegation trouble so maybe a case of 'as you were'?

Irons on lookout for centre half

West Ham's business in the transfer window is far from concluded, according to Blowing Bubbles' sources. We've heard that Big Sam, having signed Austrian captain Emmanuel Pogatetz last night, is intending to deploy him in the left back position, where he will compete with Joey O'Brien for a starting place until first choice George McCartney is fit again; and the manager is keen to sign a left sided centre half, with James Collins still struggling with a hamstring injury and the extent of Winston Reid's groin ailment not yet clear. West Ham withdraw contract offer to Diame

Last night, the Hammers withdrew their contract offer to Mohammed Diame as the player made clear his intentions to keep his options open amid rumours linking him with both Arsenal and Tottenham. The contract, believed to include a wage increase which put his weekly salary up to around £50,000 a week- in return for the removal of the £3.5 million release clause in the Senegal international's current contract- has now been rescinded, pouring petrol on the flames of speculation linking the big midfielder with a move away from the club; if not now, then in the summer. West Ham co-chairman David Gold, talking to Sports Direct News, said that "it would have been fair to have expected something (an offer from another club for Diame) by now if it were going to happen. That's not to say it won't happen- never rule anything out. A deal can be done in 24 hours but in the meantime all contract talks have ended and the offer has been withdrawn." This will come as sad news to fans who are now perhaps resigned to seeing our star man leave. Diame has gone from hero to zero in the eyes of some fans, for a perceived lack of loyalty that us Irons are all too familiar with.

Carlton likely to stay- Allardyce

Hammers forward Carlton Cole has been linked with a move to Turkish club Kasimpasa in recent days- but manager Sam Allardyce has told Sky Sports that although there has been interest in the 29 year old hitman, he doesn't think Cole will be moving in this transfer window. All quiet on Diame last few days- Wenger "wants to bring new player in" before deadline however

There's not been much news on the Mohammed Diame situation the last few days; aside from Kevin Nolan admitting to the Mirror after the Senegal international was late to the team meeting the day after the 5-1 thrashing by Arsenal, they all thought he'd left without saying goodbye and they "gave him a little bit of banter" about it. However, today Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who has adamantly denied all transfer window long that he has designs on the big midfielder, has just told Sky Sports that he would like to bring in another player before the window shuts on Thursday night. The Frenchman has ruled out moves for Barcelona striker David Villa and ex England captain David Beckham, who is currently training with the Gunners, so the question is- who is the mystery player Arsenal want to sign? Mind your French! Hammers linked with another Frog

West Ham have been linked with yet another French player- and yet another left back, at that. Having been linked with Fabrice N'Sakala, Adrien Rabiot and Massadio Haidara this transfer window, the Hammers are after another player from France; this time coming in form in the form of Valencia left back Aly Cissokho. The French international is a pacy, energetic full back who loves to get forward. He also enjoys long walks on the beach and holidays to Tuscany. According to France Football, he's not currently pulling up any trees in Spain, and has just the one international appearance to his name, in 2010, so a move to the Premier League may well appeal to him as he aims to get himself back in manager Dider Deschamps' plans. The newspaper also states that another unnamed London club, rumoured to be Fulham (also chasing reported Irons' target N'Sakala are intertested in the 25 year old Cissokho. With only two days till the transfer window deadline, Big Sam will want to seal the deal for what looks like a rising young talent across the Channel.

West Ham striker leads Mali into Cup of Nation quarter finals

Hammers striker Mobido Maiga played a key role in tonight's final African Cup of Nations group match as he led his international side to a 1-1 draw with DR Congo. The pacy forward, who wears number 11 for the Irons, played a full 90 minutes as Mali gained the draw they needed to progress to the quarter finals. Maiga was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after he headed wide midway through the first half. Mali will now face hosts South Africa in the last eight and will fancy their chances, as will Maiga, as he aims to be the first West Ham player since Bobby Moore to lift a major international trophy.

Pogatetz is a Hammer- official.

Emmanuel Pogatetz has signed for West Ham United! The Austrian captain has signed a loan deal till the end of the season for a reported loan fee of around £500,000- the Hammers have the option to buy him from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg at the end of the season for another reported figure of around £2 million. The big defender said "I am very excited to be here- when I heard West Ham were interested in me, I knew it was a club I wanted to play for. I have missed playing in England." The former Middlesbrough cruncher; who can play at left back or centre half, is likely to go straight into the squad to face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night. Check out Saturday's edition of Blowing Bubbles for a more in depth look at our new signing...

Chairman's son: Pogatetz is an Iron

West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan's son Jack tweeted an hour ago that Austria captain Emmanuel Pogatetz has signed for the club. On the social networking site, young Sullivan told fans that "Emanuel (sic) Pogatetz has just signed for #WHU #whufc #COYI." We are aware that this is only a tweet, but young Jack has always been on the money with news of new signings before.. we are just awaiting official confirmation from the club now!

Belligerent Brescia taking mickey- still no money for Diamanti

In a story which seems to have been around forever, West Ham are still waiting on the full payment of the transfer fee from Italian club Brescia for former Iron Alessandro Diamanti. The Hammers sold Italy striker Diamanti to Brescia in summer 2010, from where he moved onto Bologna in (oh bitter irony, given past transfers into the Boleyn Ground) in a third party ownership deal. Irons co-chairman David Gold stated last summer that Brescia owed our club money- it is to be believed that a sell-on clause was inserted into the deal which took the forward back to his native country- and in July of last year, Gold stated on Twitter the club's intentions to "sue Brescia for the money." However, in a tweet sixteen hours ago, the 76 year old admitted to a fan that the issue was "near" to being resolved, but wasn't resolved just yet. Not to take a pot shot at the club; on the contrary, the club are clearly doing all they can to resolve the matter; but this has been dragging on for months now and we have other fish to fry. Surely we have to take this matter to the highest authority in the football land- FIFA, and be done with it.

EXCLUSIVE: Carroll in line for return against Fulham

According to Blowing Bubbles's sources, Hammers hitman Andy Carroll could be back on the bench against Fulham in two days time, after recovering from a serious hamstring injury. The big number eight, who has been out of action since before Christmas, is odds-on for a place on the West Ham bench at Craven Cottage but will not be fit enough to start. It remains to be seen whether the England star will sufficiently in shape to lead the line against Swansea on Saturday, but with the team struggling for goals, it's splendid news for all us Irons that Carroll will be back- and with something to prove too, one would imagine.

Paulista scores as Development Squad win again

Wellington Paulista started his West Ham career positively this afternoon by opening the scoring for the Development Squad against Arsenal. The Brazilian striker, a new signing in the January transfer window, flashed a header into the bottom corner after 21 minutes and looked impressive on his first outing in a claret and blue shirt. Youngster Matthias Fanimo sealed the win for the Hammers after he curled the ball past Arsenal keeper Martinez. Paulista managed to play for an hour before being substituted for Irish youngster Sean Maguire. The match finished 2-0, which will be a pleasing win for manager Nick Haycock, after the start to the season was disrupted by bad weather.

A goal so early on will please Wellington, who isn’t sure how long it will take him to be fully fit for the first team. Football is a confidence game, and this will do him no harm at all.

Irons legends to speak at fundraising event for cancer patient

Former West Ham stars Julian Dicks, Frank McAvennie and Alvin Martin are all set to speak at an event to raise money for Rebecca Warren, a terminal cancer sufferer.

Paulista can handle Premier League pressure

Wellington Paulista has revealed that he is used to the pressure that playing in the Premier League will bring.

Speaking exclusively to whufc.com, the new Hammers signing said: “"The pressure will not be a problem for me because I am used to it from my time in Brazil, where the fans were really addicted to the club”.

He added: “The manager also put pressure on the players too, so it will be the same playing here. What I am interested in is the passion of the supporters for their team, the way they keep going with the club and the way they make the players perform better.”

The Brazilian forward also admitted that he hopes to have adjusted to life in the England within three months, although he probably won’t be ready to play straight away. He said he knows he needs to work on his strength to be able to compete in the Premier League

Paulista is the second Brazilian to play for West Ham, the first being Araujo Ilan, who had a short loan period in the 2009/2012 season and scored a memorable late diving header equaliser against Everton at Goodison Park, which secured an important point in the Hammers successful battle against relegation. Let’s hope Wellington Paulista too can bring a touch of samba skill to East London!

Villa boss Lambert quiet on wantaway Warnock

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is revealing little about the transfer future of Stephen Warnock, yesteerday linked with West Ham. The ex England international, 31, was widely reported as being set to sign at the Boleyn Ground, but under-fire boss Lambert, 43, told Sky Sports today that "there are things going on at the moment with that side of it, but Stephen is here until I hear otherwise." It is no secret that the Glaswegian wants rid of £40,000- a-week wing Warnock as he looks to cut Villa's wage bill but is so far giving nothing away as to the wing back's future; for all we know, there could be other clubs interested in the player, who impressed on loan at Bolton this season, after being made to train with the reserves by his manager earlier in the season.

Bordeaux plan move for benched Hammer

According to reports in L'Equipe, French side Bordeaux are plotting a late swoop for West Ham striker Mobido Maiga. The Mali international has been in and out of the Hammers team this season and has yet to cement a starting place in the team, and has been linked with a move away from the club all transfer window, with fellow Ligue One outfit Marseille also reportedly interested in the 25 year old. Bordeaux can offer the pacy frontman European football, with Les Girondins set for a last 32 Europa League showdown with Dynamo Kiev, and may opt to take a punt on Maiga to add some much needed firepower to their team ahead of the crunch match. With the Irons signing two new strikers in the form of Wellington Paulista and Marouane Chamakh this transfer window, Maiga's chances of regular first team football are unlikely to improve so may choose to head back to France from whence he came.

Austria captain Pogatetz in Hammers medical

Reports from German newspaper Bild yesterday that Wolfsburg's ex-Middlesbrough centre half Emmanuel Pogatetz was close to signing for West Ham have been confirmed today by Sky Sports, who reported in their website a few hours ago that the Austrian cruncher flew into London tonight and is undergoing a medical today. Pogatetz will sign on loan till the end of the season, subject to agreeing terms, with the Irons believed to be paying a loan fee in the region of £500,000 with an option to buy for around £2 million at the end of the season. With Winston Reid limping off against Arsenal last week and James Tomkins suffering from a loss of form, we could be caught short of quality in central defence as well as at left back, so the signing of Mad Pog could be just the ticket. Hammers co-chairman David Sullivan's son Jack; generally a reliable source for deets on totes hot transfer goss; stated on Twitter that "we expect to sign Emanuel (sic) Pogatetz later today, terms are agreed but its not signed yet." More on this as soon as we hear it!

Hammers battle with Fulham for young French star

West Ham look set to be locked in a late bidding war with fellow Premier League club Fulham for French U21 international Fabrice N'Sakala. The Hammers have been linked with the highly rated 22 year old for much of the transfer window but the Cottagers now appear to be entering the fray as the transfer deadline approaches on Thursday. The Mirror reports today that both clubs are highly interested in the versatile youngster, who can play either as a box-to-box midfielder or as a full back, and who currently plays for Troyes in the second tier of French football. The Hammers' left back woes appear to be being resolved, with Emmanuel Pogatetz and Stephen Warnock both reportedly on the verge of signing at Upton Park, so N'Sakala would likely be deployed in the Irons' midfield if he signs.

Hammers up offer for brilliant Bedimo

According to the Mirror, West Ham are set to offer French club Montpellier £2 million for their Cameron international left back Henri Bedimo. The Irons had a £1.75 million offer rejected earlier this week, and boss Sam Allardyce is keen to seal the deal before the madness of transfer deadline day commences next week and Montpellier start demanding silly money for the player. The left back position has been our priority during this transfer window after injuries to George McCartney and Dan Potts, and despite ex England international and Austria captain Emmanuel Pogatetz both reportedly on their way to the Boleyn Ground, Big Sam is taking no chances and is reportedly prepared to pay over the odds to land the experienced Bedimo.

Media minxes at it again- Diame "tells close pals he'd love to join Arsenal." Yawn.

In yet more unsubstantiated and barely believable transfer stories, the People and our old friends the Daily Mail are both convinced that they have been told by close friends of Mohammed Diame of the Senegal international's burning desire to leave West Ham and sign for Arsenal. The People, bless them, actually thought they'd got an exclusive on the subject but they'll have to do better than that to beat the Mail to a sensationalistic and likely untrue transfer story. I wonder how both papers got the information on Diame? Did his "close pals" ring up both newspapers and spill the beans, or have the two papers been sharing sources? I do wonder. Anyway, according to them both, Diame has told his mates he wants to sign for Arsenal, Big Sam's given up on keeping hold of him (strangely, it doesn't say in either paper what the basis for that is) and Arsenal are poised, as they have been for the past three days, to trigger Diame's £3.5 million release clause. The only part of the story that sounds plausible is that Diame has been fined a week's wages by Sam Allardyce for turning up an hour late to Thursday's breakfast meeting at Chadwell Heath; only the People reported that part though, and not with any quotes or citation of sources of any kind. Nevertheless, they did get an "exclusive" of some kind. Maybe that was a sensationalist barely-truth too much for the Mail? As you were, boys and girls...

Villa's Warnock in West Ham talks

According to the Telegraph, Aston Villa are ready to let ex England winger Stephen Warnock sign for West Ham on a free transfer as they look to cut their wage bill. The 31 year old is on reported weekly wages of £40,000 and the Midlands side are keen to cut their losses with a player who they see as being past his best. Championship sides Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United have made inquiries about the player but the lure of remaining in the Premier League makes the Hammers Warnock's preferred destination, and the ex Liverpool man is expected to have talks with West Ham boss Sam Allardyce today. Villa boss Paul Lambert has made it clear to Warnock that he does not fit into his first team plans as the Glaswegian continues with his controversial policy of youth development; a policy that has thus far seen the Villains knocked out of both cup competitions by lower division side and landed in serious relegation trouble. Despite Warnock's age, this could well be a good signing for us and the change of scene may well be the kick up the backside the player needs, to rediscover the form that once saw him touted as the natural solution to England's problems on the left flank.

Mad Pog set for West Ham medical

The German newspaper Bild has revealed that former Middlebrough cruncher Emmanuel Pogatetz, now at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, is set to sign for West Ham on loan till the end of the season. The Austrian international flew to London earlier today to undergo a medical and so is expected to be unveiled as a West Ham player in the next couple of days, subject to agreeing terms. The deal is a loan for the rest of the season, which will set the Hammers back a sum in the region of £500,000; with the option to sign Pogatetz for a further £2 million at the end of the season. The 30 year old will provide competition for Irishman Joey O'Brien at left back, with first choice and third choice Goegre McCartney and Dan Potts both out of action for the time being. Good signing by Big Sam; Pogatetz has five years of Premier League experience behind him and is known for his no-nonsense tackling style- just what we need.

Hammers target Anelka set to sign for Juve

Italian giants Juventus have reached an agreement to sign West Ham transfer target Nicolas Anelka from Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua, according to ESPN. The Irons have been linked with him for almost the entire transfer window, and although manager Sam Allardyce ruled out signing the former France international, with whom he worked with at previous club Bolton Wanderers, many fans wouldn't have been surprised to see the gaffer make a late play for the journeyman striker. But The Old Lady, five points clear at the top of Serie A, have reportedly tied a deal up with the man known in England as The Incredible Sulk, who is set to sign on a six month contract worth around £600,000. It is unclear at the moment whether Big Sam has any alternative attacking transfer targets in his sights, as the manager's main focus at the moment appears to be solving the left back dilemma and retaining the services of Mohammed Diame, having already signed strikers Wellington Paulista and Marouane Chamakh this transfer window.

More confused than ever: Diame late for team meeting, wants to leave and Arsenal poised to swoop?

The 'what-the-bejeepers-is-actually-going-on?!' Mohammed Diame transfer snake's honeymoon has taken another alarming turn, according to the Daily Mail. The newspaper's football news correspondent, Neil Ashton, wrote online last night that "Sam Allardyce stunned West Ham's players by ordering them to attend a 7am team meeting, hours after their 5-1 defeat at Arsenal." This sounds like a fairly typical Big Sam reaction to a thrashing, but the big news here is that midfield star Diame was an hour late to the meeting at the Hammers' Chadwell Heath training ground.

The Mail appear to have read two things into this.

Firstly, that Diame "wants to join Arsenal," just two days after publishing a story with the headline "I'm happy at West Ham! Diame wants to stay despite £3.5m exit clause saga"; and secondly, that Arsenal are "about to activate the release clause" in the Senegal international's contract. As stated yesterday in my piece on the Mail's coverage of the story so far, I am perfectly aware that this is silly season and that transfer situations are subject to constant fluctuation, but it is difficult to see what the basis is for this second U-turn by the newspaper on the subject. There is a contradiction in terms in the article itself; Ashton claims that the club are "treating the Diame case sensitively" because of the reported interest from Arsenal.. yet says that he has heard from West Ham that Diame's lateness "would fall under the appropriate disciplinary measures." So, the club are treating the Diame situation sensitively, but not actually doing anything different to how they normally would handle a case of a player being late to a team meeting. Well, that clears everything up.

As the situation stands according to the Mail, we are "struggling to hold on" to Diame, but the article makes no reference as to why; no mention of any possible sources ("The Mail understands from sources close to Mohammed Diame..", for example) and neither does it make any reference to why its writer is so sure that Arsenal are "about to activate Diame's release clause." Hmm. I just don't know any more, and it seems a pathetically obvious thing to say, but the only thing I really can see is that time will tell. The next five days are certainly going to be interesting times for West Ham United.

Hammers Ladies' manager praises new recruits as cup clash looms large

West Ham Ladies' manager Julia Setford has lauded the impact of her new signings as the team prepare for the re-arranged County Cup quarter final against Witham Town. The Hammers come into the game on the back of consecutive wins over Gillingham and London Corinthians, and with home advantage on their side, will be red-hot favourites to progress to the semi final. The game was originally scheduled for Sunday the 20th but was called off owing to bad weather.

New signings from Colchester United, Hannah Gowland and Lily Mellors have made an instant impact since arriving recently and manager Setford couldn't be happier with their progress. "The two girls I brought in, I knew they were quality- they've settled in well and really proved themselves." The two new recruits have really strengthened the Hammers side, according to their boss. "Their finishing, especially Hannah's, is second to none. She's a left-footed player and she brings a nice balance to the team; together with Lily's vision, it's really boosted our numbers and made us strong."

The team's recent form is particularly impressive given the problems they have faced of late; owing to the adverse weather conditions, the Ladies have only been able to complete four games since November, but hopefully the worst of the bad weather is over now and the Witham game, whenever it's played, will bring glorious sunshine and a third win on the trot for the in form Irons, with more sparkling performances from the two new signings.

Media get it wrong again- no substance to Hammers' Jenkinson link

It's definitely silly season still, isn't it? First the Daily Mail faff around with their facts over the future of Momo Diame and now this. Sky Sports, about an hour ago, published a story claiming West Ham, amongst other clubs, had inquired about a loan deal for Arsenal's young defender Carl Jenkinson, and had been knocked back. However, as anyone taking a brief glance at the Hammers' squad list will see, we already have two players on loan in the form of Andy Carroll from Liverpool and Marouane Chamakh from Arsenal. FA rules state that no Premier League club may have more than two players on long term loan contracts from other Premier League teams (both Carroll and Chamakh's loans run till the end of the season so would qualify) meaning that in signing Jenkinson, we would be breaking FA rules. Hardly likely, given the events concerning loan signings which affected us in the 2006/2007 season. One does wonder why some media folk are in a job...

Kasimpasa inquiry for out-of-contract Cole

Turkish side Kasimpasa have made an enquiry for West Ham striker Carlton Cole, according to Sky Sports. The 29 year old hitman is out of contract in the summer and has yet to be offered a new deal by the club he has pledged his future to on numerous occasions and for who he turned down offers after relegation in 2011 from Premier League side Stoke City and Turkish side Galatasary in order to stay with the Hammers in the Championship last season, taking a 50% wage cut in the process. However, the West Ham board have not shown him the same loyalty and may well cash in on the big striker now, rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer. The Turkish side are reportedly in talks with the Hammers over a fee and we are supposedly willing to sell for a figure in the region of £3 million. The Istanbul side face competition for Cole's signature, with more illustrious rivals Galatasary and Fenerbache also keeping tabs on the situation. Cole himself may be more attracted by one of these two offers; with Galatasary facing a Champions League last 16 tie against German side Schalke 04, and Fenerbache also in European competition, having made the last 32 in the Europa League. It would be a shame to see Carlton go; he's not the best striker we've ever had, but I can't remember a West Ham striker with the energy, determination and sheer heart that he has, and those qualities are rare in football these days.

Hammers bid for Celtic star Izaguirre

West Ham have made an offer to Clydesdale Scottish Premier League club Celtic for their influential left back Emilio Izaguirre. The Honduras international, who was a shining light in the Hoops' SPL title win last season and was named Player of the Year. Irons boss Sam Allardyce has made the left back position a priority in this transfer window, with the full extent of Dan Potts' injury sufferd at Arsenal on Wednesday night not entirely clear and with first choice left back George McCartney still a long term absentee, the injury-prone Joey O'Brien is currently West Ham's only option in the position. Celtic reportedly want £4 million for the 26 year old, whose form has dropped drastically this season after a barnstorming 2011/2012 in Scotland; but the Hammers would prefer a loan deal till the end of the season, at which point the club will know whether Premier League survival has been secured and be able to make a decision about whether to sign Izaguirre permanently, in light of the new lucrative television money being given to Premier League clubs next season. The Celtic man is reportedly keen on a move to England, but Hoops manager Neil Lennon has no motivation to sell; with his side facing two huge games against Italian giants Juventus in their Champions League last 16 tie next month, Lennon will be keen to keep the bulk of his squad together- particularly with tsra striker Gary Hooper reportedly getting closer to a move to Norwich City, who are tabling a third bid worth more than £7 million. However, the wily Northern Irishman may be tempted to cash in on a player who only cost £600,000 from Motagua three years ago.

Media confusion over Diame- don't believe what you read in the papers

It's that time of year again- January transfer deadline looming over us like James Collins bearing down on an unsuspecting left winger. Now, I know we ridicule our national media a fair bit; but the reality is they're only human, and as such, they get things wrong just like the rest of us. But one British newspaper in particular has in recent days done what can only be described as making a complete arse out of itself in regard to the future of Mohammed Diame.

In an article published on Tuesday, Sami Mokbel wrote an article for the Daily Mail (surprise, surprise) claiming that Diame was threatening to report West Ham to FIFA over their "dirty tactics" which were supposedly being employed to stop his reported £3.5 million release clause being triggered. "The 25 year old suspects his employers are using unfair tactics in order to spoil any potential move," wrote Mokbel. No quotes, no cited sources, but fair enough; it's the newspaper's pregogative to keep their sources a secret. A magician never reveals his tricks and all that...

However, just two days later, David Kent wrote in the Mail that Diame was happy to stay with the club despite the release clause in his contract. This article, unlike the previous one, did have some actual quotes in it, from Diame and from his manager, Sam Allardyce.

So the big mystery is- why did the Mail think that Diame was threatening to shop his club to the highest authority in football, just two days previously? Where did they get their information from? Did Diame tell them? Did his agent? Or, dare I say it, perhaps it was just a newspaper trying to stir up trouble in the midst of the silliest season on the British football calendar and sell a few copies in the process.

Dilemma for Diarra as Real Mallorca join race to sign wantaway Hammer

La Liga side Real Mallorca have joined the race to sign unsettled West Ham midfielder Alou Diarra. The France international has repeatedly stated his desire to leave the Boleyn Ground over the last few days and with Espanyol and Rennes already reportedly courting his services, it seems unlikely that his wish won't be granted before the end of this transfer window, with Hammers boss Sam Allardyce prepared to listen to offers for the 31 year old. Quoted on a Los Bermellones fan site, Diarra lashed out at his manager, claiming that "since my arrival at West Ham, I have never spoke with the manager- there is no dialogue." Mallorca's Director of Football, Lllorenc Serra Ferra, has stated that Diarra is the club's number one transfer target. However, Diarra is believed to be on wages in the region of £41,000 at the Boleyn Ground and if a loan deal were struck, the Spanish side would require the Irons to pay more than half of the midfielder's wages. In a way it seems like a loan deal would be worth it, if Mallorca are not interested in a permanent move; it would save us a bit of money and get a disruptive influence away from the ever volatile atmosphere of the dressing room. Ideally though, a club would sign Diarra permanently and there are two other clubs who are interested in doing just that, so perhaps we should pursue those avenues instead.

FIFA concentrate on concussion after Potts panic

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has promised that FIFA are taking the matter of concussion in football very seriously.

His comments come after West Ham left back Dan Potts was knocked unconscious in Wednesday night’s clash between West Ham and Arsenal at the Emirates, after a collision with Arsenal full back Bacary Sagna.

Blatter tweeted: “Best wishes & quick recovery to Dan Potts. Concussion in football is a big issue that FIFA is taking very seriously”.

He also tweeted a link to the FIFA website which detailed a meeting of experts held in November to discuss how to treat and avoid concussion in sport.

FIFA’s Chief Medical Officer Professor Jiri Dvorak said: “What we are expecting is to develop very practical, simple, easy to use tools that could be applied for coaches, for the paramedical personnel on the sidelines and in grassroots, where there is little medical attention.”

Potts is making a good recovery and is expected to back in first team action in the next couple of weeks, but preventative measures can only be a good thing in this day and age to avoid it happening to more young stars.

Henderson in line for Ireland debut

West Ham goalkeeper Stephen Henderson is all set to earn his first cap for the Republic of Ireland in the February 6 friendly with Poland in Dublin. The 24 year old stopper, born in the Eire capital, has just arrived back at the Boleyn Ground after a productive loan spell with Npower Championship strugglers Ipswich Town, and will now be setting his sights on claiming the Hammers number one jersey from Jussi Jaaskelainen. New bid by Hammers for Rovers ace Olsson

West Ham have made a second attempt to sign Blackburn Rovers full back Martin Olsson. The Irons had a £4 million bid rejected last week but, according to Sports Direct News, have amended their offer by putting in various add-on clauses that could potentially take the offer up to £5 million. With the transfer window deadline only six days away and Rovers boss Michael Appleton admitting today that he's desperate to sign new players as his squad is "unbalanced," and the club's Indian owners' generosity in terms of transfer funds being tested, Blackburn may well be tempted by the improved offer from the Irons.

No bid made for Diame- Wenger

Talking to Sky Sports, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger stated that his club have not made any formal bids for any of their transfer targets- including West Ham star Mohammed Diame. Speaking this afternoon, the Frenchman said "we cannot come out with the names we are on. We have not approached West Ham on that." Whilst any West Ham fan would be a fool to take Arsene Wenger's word at face value, the Gunners' manager's days of mind games would appear to be over- when he says no big signings are happening, that generally is the case these days. As regards Diame's future, Tottenham would appear to be the real threat; particularly as on current form, it seems extremely unlikely that they will not be playing in European competition next season, which could well prove an attraction to the 25 year old.

Hammers do MK Dons a good turn

In a nice gesture, West Ham have allowed League One outfit MK Dons, whose training ground is not fit to be trained on owing to the adverse weather conditions, to train at their Chadwell Heath training ground. Big Sam knows the Dons manager Karl Robinson from his time in the Blackburn hotseat- Robinson was his first team coach- and he decided to help his old mate out. Not to be overly cyncial or take away from what appears to be a vcry nice altruistic gesture from the gaffer, but I wonder if Karl Robinson and MK Dons may one of these days give us something in return.. after all, we originally signed Sam Baldock from MK Dons, so they've obviously got a useful production line of young talent coming through; hence their lofty league position in League One. Possible feeder club? Apologies, too much West Ham makes one overly cynical and I've been up since eight scanning BBC Sport and Sky Sports for West Ham news stories. Bah humbug! Well done Big Sam, very kind gesture. Some of their players do look a bit useful though...

Bordeaux in for West Ham striker

Bordeaux are planning a late swoop for Hammers striker Mobido Maiga, according to TalkSport. The pacy frontman, who can alos play on the week, hs been in excellent form for the Irons this season and is the club's joint-top scorer with four goals; despite only four of his eighteen appearances for the club having been starts.

Bordeaux are in the market for a striker after Youan Gouffran's move to Newcastle United, and the Hammers number 11, currently away on international duty with Mali at the African Cup of Nations, would fit the bill. With West Ham having signed two new strikers this month in the form of Marouane Chamakh and Wellington Paulista, the chances of Maiga getting more playing time than he has done so far this season look bleak, and so with Marseille also reportedly interested in his services, the idea of regular first team football back in France from whence he came in the summer could well appeal to the Irons superbsub.

Desperate Diarra to run away with Rennes

Wantaway West Ham midfielder Alou Diarra may ahve found the way out of a club which has supposedly pushed him to "breaking point," with French side Rennes poised to make a bid for the France international. Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is prepared to listen to offers for the big midfielder, according to TalkSport, and Les Rouges et Noirs are reportedly  preparing a transfer bid for Diarra. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Alou...

Henri for Hammers?

According to TalkSport, West Ham are considering a swoop for Montpellier left back Henri Bedimo. The Cameroon international has attracted much attention for his performances in Ligue One since joining from Lens in 2011 and has reportedly attracted interest from Liverpool in the past. The Irons are desperately short at the back with James Collins, Winston Reid and Danny Potts all currently walking wounded and the experienced 28 year old could be just the ticket to ameliorate the Hammers' defensive problems. Bedimo himself is reportedly keen on a move to England, so here's hoping Big Sam pushes this one through!

Race for Rabiot: Hammers in pole postion to win transfer scramble for French youngster

Paris St Germain youngster Adrien Rabiot has recently been linked with West Ham, as the end of the transfer window closes in on us. The 17 year old midfielder, who only made his first team debut for PSG this season, has been earning rave reviews in France, and has reportedly attracted the attention of the Hammers, as well as West Brom and (quelle surprise) Newcastle. The France Under-19 international is reportedly keen to play more first team football and so a loan or permanent deal at the Boleyn Ground could be on the cards. Should West Ham sign Rabiot, it would be a different type of signing to the ones made so far by manager Sam Allardyce who, after leading the club to promotion in a team largely built around promising young players, has invested almost exclusively in experienced pros such as Jussi Jaaskelainen, James Collins and Alou Diarra so far this term.

Spurs mull over Diame swoop

Tottenham Hotspur are considering meeting Mohammed Diame's £3.5 million release clause and persuading the player to come to White Hart Lane, according to The Guardian. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly come to view the player as an interesting investment, and one with greater potential value for money than the other transfer targets his manager, Andre Villas-Boas has identified. The North London side have recently pulled out of the race to sign Portugal star Joao Moutinho, who was part of the Porto side who lifted the Europa League under Villas-Boas' management. However, a price tag in excess of £20 million put Spurs off, and a £3.5 million deal for onr of the most consistent performers in the Premier League this season would represent much less of a risk.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce stated yesterday that the club had received no bids for Diame, and that he hoped the Senegal international would stay at the Boleyn Ground beyond the January transfer window. Diame himself issued a statement on the club website reassuring supporters of his commitment to the club, so as things stand, the defensive midfielder is going nowhere. However, both Spurs and North London neighbours Arsenal have been linked with the player since before the transfer window opened, and both could be biding their time before making a move. Spurs, of course, waited until the final day of the 2011 summer transfer window before making a bid to sign England international Scott Parker from West Ham, and eventually did so at the cut-price sum of £5 million- less than the Hammers originally paid for the midfielder from Newcastle in 2007.

An added complication to the situation is the fact that Diame has a contract deadline of the weekend; meaning that if any bids are made for his services, they will have to be made today. In other words, if no bids are made for Mohammed Diame today, he is likely to stay at Upton Park and sign a new contract at the weekend. So for us Irons, no news today is good news. Let's hope we're celebrating no news in the pub this Friday night...

Taking Pott luck: full back discharged from hospital but out for at least two weeks

Full back Danny Potts has been discharged from hospital after spending Wednesday night there, having been carried off during the 5-1 defeat at Arsenal. In a statement on the club website, West Ham stated that the 18 year old defender had undergone tests and scans in hospital and they had come back "positive." Potts will now spend the next few days resting at home, before beginning his recovery with some light work in the gym. Manager Sam Allardyce stated that he hoped the player had just suffered concussion, stating that "the problem was that the clash of heads originally knocked him out and he hit the floor as a deadweight." Potts left the field on a stretcher and in a neck brace; and his injury is yet another blow to the Hammers defence, who have missed the experienced James Collins through injury the last three games and also saw Winston Reid limp off out of the Arsenal game with a groin injury, which he had a scan on yesterday. Big Sam revealed that his defender was "confused" after the incident, in which he lost consciousness and it was clear straight away that the injury was serious. The gaffer also stated that it would be at least two weeks before Potts would be match fit again, leaving West Ham somewhat short at the back in the meantime. Never mind new defenders, Big Sam needs to get down Boots and buy up all available stocks of cotton wool...

Newcastle complete Haidara signing- Hammers miss out

Newcastle United have completed the signing of France Under-21 international Massadio Haidara for a fee believed to be in excess of £3 million. The 20 year old left back said "I like the club's ambition to strengthen the whole team so we can improve our league position- that's what appealed to me." The news will come as a disappointment to West Ham fans who had hoped to see the Irons land the promising young full back; especially in the midst of what looks like an emerging injury crisis in the Hammers defence. James Collins is still sidelined with a hamstring injury which has kept him out of the last three games; while regular central defensive partner Winston Reid and full back Dan Potts both exited Wednesday night's thrashing at Arsenal owing to injury, with Potts being carried off on a stretcher. Reid had a scan on a suspected groin tear yesterday and Potts has been discharged from hospital, where he spent Wednesday night and so the extent of their injuries and the subsequent absences is not yet clear, but with the transfer deadline thundering down upon us, Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is under increasing pressure to sign defensive reinforcements.

Hammers strengthening links with the MLS

Could West Ham be the next Premier League club to import a player from across the pond?

The Hammers recently invited United States internationals Graham Zusi and Juan Agudelo, to spend time training with the first team at Chadwell Heath. Both Zusi and Agudelo are preparing for the upcoming MLS season and so being able to spend time with the Hammers was a great experience for the pair, who had no problems coping with the transatlantic transition.

Zusi, who plays for Sporting Kansas City, marvelled at how the radio airwaves were filled with football 24/7. "Every radio station over there is talking about soccer, instead of (American) football, basketball and baseball. It's just a constant thing over there, which is neat," Zusi said.

National teammate Agudelo, who plays for Chivas USA, was equally happy to have experienced training with West Ham, saying,
"The training itself is similar to how we train in the States, but it was great to see how a team like that in the EPL handles themselves and how the players handle themselves."

Upon their return to the States, Zusi and Agudelo reported for training with the US nation side and while Big Sam has given no indication of signing either player in the near future, both Zusi and Agudelo felt that the experience gave them an opportunity to not only learn, but also to showcase themselves.

Last season in the Championship, the Hammers gave a trial to American defensive midfielder George John, and although Allardyce decided not to sign him on a permanent contract, the invitation of yet more MLS players to train with West Ham would seem to be an indication that the MLS is an avenue that the manager, who spent time in the USA in the late 1970s during his playing career, is willing to go down when it comes to finding new talent.
