Irons to battle Roma for French cruncher

West Ham are set to take on Italian giants Roma in a bid to land France U21 international Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, according to TalkSport. The centre half has been in fine form for Valenciennes in Ligue One this season and has earned rave reviews for his solid defensive displays, and now looks set for bigger and brighter things at the end of the current campaign.

The 21 year old has previously been linked with Liverpool and Newcastle United, after displays in France like this, but the Hammers now appear to be be the front-runners for his signature.

Irons chief Sam Allardyce will have to move fast as Roma are believed to have been in touch with the youngster already about a possible move to Italy- Valenciennes are thought to want a figure in the region of £5m in return for Isimat-Mirin's services.
