Frei'd up: German side to challenge Irons in race for German hotshot

West Ham will face competition from German side Freiburg if they want to sign Germany U21 international Daniel Ginczek, according to German newspaper Bild.

The Hammers have been watching the Borussia Dortmund player, currently on loan at second tier side St Pauli, as reported to you by Blowing Bubbles last month, and with on loan centre forward Andy Carroll set to be given a second chance at parent club Liverpool and the club's other striking target Wilfried Bony reportedly close to a move to London rivals Chelsea, Ginczek could represent West Ham's best chance of bolstering their frontline this summer.

They will, however, have to fight off the attentions of Bundesliga outfit Freiburg first- for a young man, remaining in Germany could well prove tempting to Ginczek.

Let's hope he's not another Savio...
