Jussi happy with Hammers stay

West Ham goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen has told Sky Sports of his happiness at signing a new one year deal at the club. The Finland international has been in superb form for the Irons this season and penned a new deal after an appearances clause in his current deal was triggered.

"Big Sam was the reason I wanted to come here and when I signed, the deal was that if we stay up, I stay on, so I don't really have to do anything except make sure we stay up- so I'm happy," the 37 year old said.

The question is now, who will be JJ's successor between the sticks for the Hammers? Jaaskelainen is a fantastic keeper who has been at the top of his game for years, but he's pushing 40 and there's a reason he has only been given a 12 month extension on his current deal.

Fellow summer signing Stephen Henderson is seemingly not considered ready for regular Premier League action by boss Sam Allardyce and has spent much of this season on loan at Championship side Ipswich Town, with West Ham being linked in recent weeks with Manchester City's reserve keeper Costel Pantilimon and Manchester United's out-of-favour stopper Anders Lindegaard.
