Gold looks ahead to "new look" Hammers side next season

West Ham co-chairman David Gold has told Sports Direct News that the look of the Irons team will be set to change in the coming months. The club have attracted a fair amount of criticism from fans for their policy of buying older players such as James Collins and Kevin Nolan, but Gold says that this is all part of a long term plan.

"In our first season back (in the Premier League) it was always going to be about us getting in the players with the experience to get us safe. Then having done so, we get some more TV money allowing us to press on by getting some young stronger players in."

The Hammers recently secured the Olympic Stadium and have been linked with a permanent move for on loan Liverpool striker Andy Carroll as well as swoops for Vitesse Arnhem star Wilfried Bony and this weekend, Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale, and Gold says that the club are very much building for the next few years at the 55,000 capacity ground.

"It has truly been a magnificent season of achievements but now we need to look to building a big future- this time next season, you could be watching a very much new-look Hammers side."

This is great to hear from the chairman; particularly after Sam Allardyce's warnings of transfer caution the other day.. keep watching this space, let's hope there's something to put in it!
