Club announce 2013/2014 season ticket cost hike: disabled fans hit hardest in average 47% increase

West Ham yesterday announced the season ticket prices for the new season (hopefully in the Premier League) and there are increases across the board, ranging from 3.5% to 50%, with disabled fans suffering the most.

The club have pursued a loyalty policy whereby for the first time, existing season ticket holders will pay less to renew their seats than new applicants will to purchase theirs.

However, this reduction does not broadly apply to disabled fans, all of whom will not only pay more than last season, but will pay the same as new applicants in four out of five categories, with only U10 season tickets remaining cheaper for current season ticket holders.

Those season ticket holders who applied for the 'five per cent discount over four years' option when renewing their seat last season will have their reduction applied upon request.

The average regular adult season ticket is priced at £756- an increase of £20. This does not sound like a huge increase, but the fact is that all prices are now above the current rate of inflation and disabled fans are hit hardest, despite the club having backed down from plans to raise the cost of a disabled season ticket by 107%, and all this despite the increased television revenue from the Premier League next season.

Business as usual...
