Tweets sweet but untrue- Bony Twitter account a fake

Rumours have been circulating today, on the mire of salacious transfer gossip that is Twitter, that Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony is on his way to England to sign for West Ham.

The 24 year old has been strongly linked with the Hammers in recent weeks, and Irons co-chairman David Sullivan held talks with the Ivory Coast international's representatives in London last month.

However, contrary to what noises from a Twitter account going under the name of '@officialbony' have been articulating this morning, Blowing Bubbles understands that this account is fake. The account tweeted just after 9am 'on way to sign for #WestHam', a tweet which has since been deleted, presumably because the owner of the account realised that the majority of fans weren't buying it.

The account has been tweeting for several months but does not yet have a verified profile with the signature verified blue tick, which seems odd as Bony is one of the world's most high-profile players at the moment and also the tweets are all in English, which also seems strange as Bony plays in Holland and previously in the Czech Republic and hails from the Ivory Coast, where the spoken language is French.

The striker, to the best of our knowledge, does not have a personal Twitter account at all.

Transfer excitement over chaps, not that any of you were excited in the first place...
