Newham Council to meet over stadium renovation plans- but are the club being totally honest about the effects of retractable seating?

The planning committee at Newham Council will meet next week to discuss plans which will allow West Ham to move into the ground in 2016, wharf.co.uk are reporting this evening.

It is expected that members will agree to the proposals by the LLDC put forward last month in regards to retractable seating, which would allow fans to get closer to the action. The plans will also see the roof extended and will cost an original £64m, of which West Ham will pay £15 with the council covering the rest, and the Government putting in an additional £25m if required.

London Mayor Boris Johnson also confirmed plans to have Essex Country Cricket Club, who made a failed bid with the University of East London for the stadium, play Twenty20 matches at the ground, stating today that "if we could get some credit in too, that would be great."

All this sounds just standard procedure, but an interesting website article has caught our eye at Blowing Bubbles. The club are currently in full Olympic Stadium PR swing, but there appear to be question marks over David Sullivan and David Gold's Geometry GCSEs and whether the views at Stratford really will be as wonderful as the club say they will be and whether the atmosphere will be the idealistic, effervescent one portrayed by the club.. make your own mind up and read the piece for yourself here.

Still a lot to be decided and thought about.. And that's without even mentioning the club's big PR campaign to talk fans round!
