Diame drama #2? Kop legend Aldridge wants Irons star at Liverpool

Liverpool hero John Aldridge has urged Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers to sign West Ham midfielder Mohammed Diame. The Senegal cruncher put in a superb performance against the Reds on Sunday as the Hammers put in a solid defensive performance to gain a valuable point, and almost scored what would have been a goal to remember after a mesmerising run which left several Liverpool defenders in his wake.

Aldo was impressed, and writes in his Liverpool Echo column today that the club should keep an eye on "the brute" that is the ex Wigan man.

"Mohammed Diame is a tremendous player and so strong and powerful in that central role- he is exactly what the Reds need in there and in the two games between Liverpool and West Ham United this season, he has been the best player. I'd urge Liverpool to keep tabs on him, he's certainly one for future reference."

The Irons are confident of tying down Diame to a new extended deal at the club, having successfully retained their man in the midst of reported interest from Arsenal, Spurs, Everton and Aston Villa during the January transfer window- as we reported to you last week, and will want to push ahead with that as soon as possible, before Liverpool or anyone else have a chance to make their moves on Diame.

Zip it, Aldo.. don't you have a deceased Prime Minister to whinge about?
