Big Sam "delighted" with Anfield point

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce says that his side can be content with their battling performance to earn themselves a point against Liverpool yesterday- but that they should have won the game.

The Hammers boss told Sports Direct News that he felt his team had the better of the chances and should have been awarded a spot kick in the second half.

"It's only our finishing that have cost us the three points- we nullified Liverpool's threats and had the better chances to score even though they had more possession, and should have had a penalty when Jose Enrique kicked James Tomkins."

The Irons are now without a win at Anfield since 1963 but can be proud of their show yesterday which kept out a superior Liverpool side, who were far from off-colour, with Reds manager Brendan Rodgers describing his own side's showing as "outstanding."

Next year for sure!
