The "mini Messi": 4 year old football prodigy training with West Ham

Four year old Archie Shepherd is the latest footballing sensation, in a story reported by the Mail today. The young lad, from Grays in Essex, recently scored 10 goals in a match for his club side County Park FC against boys two years older than him and has caught the attention of Premier League clubs Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham. The Hammers look to have stolen a march on their London rivals with Archie, as he is currently training with the club's U6 team. He also trains once a week with Arsenal and has an offer from Chelsea to join their academy in May, so the Irons need to act fast if they are to nail down what looks like a hugely promising and highly explosive young talent.

Archie's dad, construction worker Pat, said of his son that "he is just football obsessed and there are a lot of clubs monitoring him and just waiting for him to get a bit older. He doesn't stop playing and doesn't care if other kids are bigger than him- he shows no fear."

This boy is clearly promising, and not to put a dampener on the burgeoning young talent but these child footballing prodigies have come up before and a footballing career hasn't always materialised. Definitely one worth keeping an eye on though!
