Two more wins enough for Premier League survival: Allardyce

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has said that his side need two more wins to secure Premier League football next season.

Despite being only six points clear of the relegation zone after defeat at Stamford Bridge, Allardyce is confident that 39 points is a good target to avoid the drop.

Allardyce was asked if he had a points target, and his response was: "I'd say 39, because it's the average over the last 10 years.

"It probably might be 38, who knows, but all we want to do is get to it as quickly as we can and have a few games left if we can because that would mean that we would finish in a position in the league well clear of the bottom four, and that's what we want to try and do."

Given some of the poor shows from othe sides this season, he could well be right, but of course it’s all ifs and buts. West Ham were relegated from the Premier League in 2002/2003 with a record high 42 points, so never say never.
