Aymen to that! Hammers to battle Barca for Tunisian centre half

West Ham are set to take on Premier League rivals Newcastle United and Spanish giants Barcelona in the race to sign Tunisian international Aymen Abdennour.

The 23 year old has produced a string of outstanding performance in France for Ligue One side Toulouse, and Barca are said to see the Tunisian international as a long term replacement for club legend Carles Puyol. The Magpies, meanwhile, are looking for defensive reinforcements following what looked like a serious injury to former West Ham target Massadio Haidara in their 2-1 defeat by Wigan Athletic on Sunday.

Reports in France have linked both Premier League outfits to watch Abdennour, who according to TalkSport, has already been watched by scouts from Barcelona. It's clear which would be the most desirable destination for the defender, but this is definitely one worth keeping an eye on. As ever, we'll keep you bang up to date with any further developments.
