Allardyce flying too close to the sun again- new deal close says Hammers boss

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce this morning has told Sky Sports News that he is close to agreeing a new  contract at the club- despite Irons co-chairman David Sullivan yesterday telling the Sun that no discussions would begin till the end of the season.

Big Sam said that "we (the club and Allardyce) both want to do it (sign the contract). It's just a case of dotting the i's and crossing the t's."

"It's not as easy as you would like but then you always have to do some negotiations over a new contratc, just as there were plenty of negotiations over the first contract."

This is not the first time Allardyce has openly made a public statement directly contradicting statements by Sullivan or his co-chairman David Gold; only the other week, Allardyce flew in the face of insistence by the two that no new deal would be discussed till the end of the season by commenting before the recent game at Chelsea that "we'll discuss it when we're safe- what's the point in me waiting till the end of the season if we're already safe from relegation?"

A reminder of those comments can be found at our story on March 16: http://blowingbubblesfanzine.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/big-sam-at-war-with-board-over-contract.html

Big Sam Allardyce could well be in for a shock in the summer; if I were Sullivan and Gold, I'd be getting pretty tired of his constant public mouthing off and contradicting statements I'd made..
