Mac's back! Defender McCartney to make comeback from injury at Chelsea

In better news for us Hammers, left back George McCartney will make his long-awaited return from injury at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, TalkSport are reporting. The Northern Ireland international has been sidelined for three months with serious knee ligament damage and his absence has drastically affected the rest of the side, with a terrible defensive slump in form all too noticeable since the New Year. However, ex Sunderland full back McCartney did not travel to Dubai for the recent training camp, instead staying at home to work on his fitness and is now reportedly back in full training and in line for a return against the Blues this weekend. This is great news; with captain Kevin Nolan almost certainly ruled out of the game with a broken toe suffered against Spurs last month and manager Sam Allardyce sweating over the fitness of Mark Noble and James Tomkins, who both missed the last two games, we need all the players we can get.
