No Irons move for non-league starlet Freeman

Young trialist Nick Freeman will not be moving to West Ham just yet but the Hammers are still keeping an eye on him.

The youngster impressed in his recent trial period at the Boleyn Ground, but Histon manager Brian Page has said that a move is not on the cards just yet.

Page told Cambridge News: “West Ham are going to monitor him here, the same as Norwich are going to do.

“He went down there and acquitted himself well. They were very happy with the way he performed but feel that to bring him into their club at the moment wouldn’t be right thing for him in his development. He’s going to come back here, work hard for us and make sure he knuckles down.

“He’s a very talented and dedicated young man. As long as he keeps working hard, keeps listening and keeps learning he’ll be a fine player in the future.”

Histon are happy to have Freeman back but they hope he’s not too disappointed at missing out on a Premier League move. Page told him to draw on the positives of his experience and use his football to prove a point.

You would feel sorry for a young lad having to deal with being built up and let down, but if the West Ham staff are still watching him, he shouldn’t give up hope just yet.
