Ex Hammer Benayoun to leave Stamford Bridge in May

Yossi Benayoun is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, according to TalkSport. The 32 year old is no longer first choice at the Blues and will leave the club at the end of the season in search of first team football; having been on loan at West Ham for the early part of this season- his second spell at the Boleyn Ground, after originally signing from Racing Santander in summer 2005 before departing for Premier League rivals Liverpool two years later.

There is already reported interest from Russian clubs Rubin Kazan and Lokomotiv Moscow, and Benayoun's agent, Ronen Katsav has stated that the Israel captain "will be released at the end of the season and, being a good player, it is normal that there is interest from several clubs."

Katsav has said that "we will consider all offers before the expiry of his (Chelsea) contract." One wonders whether Sam Allardyce is amongst the managers interested in the experienced playmaker- Benayoun impressed on loan earlier in the season before his time at Upton Park was cut short by injury. On the other hand, we've already got his position covered in the form of Joe Cole, so maybe not. Still one worth watching!
