Dev Squad slump continues

West Ham's U21 side's poor form continued, as they were defeated 2-0 by what was, it has to be said, a a youthful Manchester United side at Altrincham last night. Two goals from United forward Nick Powell sunk the Hammers, who are now without a win in their last four games and see their chances of finishing in the top three in the U21 Premier League Elite Group Stage swiftly disappearing, unless they can urgently turn this slump around and find some form.

Skipper Calum Driver made his return from injury last night; while Sebastian Lletget, impressive so far this season and fresh from signing a new two-year deal at the club, didn't even make the bench. An early strike from Powell set the tone for the rest of the game as the Irons never really got going; with a 25 yard drive from full back Dan Potts the closest the lads got to equalising; and Potts was to blame for the Red Devils' second goal, with his attempted header back to keeper Spiegel falling short and letting in former Crewe star Powell for his second of the game with a minute to go. The boys have had a good season, but seriously need to sort it out or won't get the rewards their hard work so far has merited come the end of the campaign.
