Sugar and spice and all things Allardyce: Hammers boss to sign new £9m Boleyn Ground deal- reportedly

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is set to put pen to paper on a new £3m-a-year deal which will keep him at the club till 2016, the Mail reported last night.

Despite repeated statements by Irons co-chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan, that no negotiations would commence until the end of the season, the newspaper stated on Tuesday that talks had begun over a new deal for the 59 year old, and the "exclusive" was "confirmed" yesterday by Big Sam.

The Mail claim that "it is understood that talks have progressed to the stage where only the fine details need ironing out" after Allardyce's agent Mark Curtis "has been in discussions with West Ham and the bumper pay  packet is a reward for steering the club out of the Npower Championship at the first time of asking and for taking the club to the brink of preserving their Premier League status."

Whilst this fanzine does not wish to begrudge a fellow media outlet an exclusive (if that's what it is), one should bear in mind that just because Sam Allardyce says something, it doesn't make it true. Big Sam and the board have been issuing completely opposite signals in the press and stating completely opposite things in regard to the manager's new contract for nearly two months now.

Keep watching this one- we've got a feeling this deal is far from sealed...
