Freeman flying on trial at Irons

Young midfielder Nick Freeman is eagerly awaiting news of his football future after being given a trial with the Hammers.

Freeman is said to have impressed during a two day trial, so much so that West Ham have decided to extend his trial to six weeks.

He is currently playing for Blue Square North outfit Histon, but the club’s manager Brian Page believes that Freeman could be signed up to the Hammers’ squad as early as this weekend after he has played for the Under 18 side.

Page told Cambridge News: "He’s having a great time down there and it’s a great experience for him.

"For a big Premier League club to take a little village team’s player, even on trial, is great and a credit to what we’re doing here, as well as a credit to him for the performances he’s been putting in."

"If we all work hard together, put in the hours and put in the effort then there’s a chance our talents and abilities can show. We’re doing all we can to be the best we can every day. Hopefully, somewhere down the line, people will spot that and people can progress."

West Ham are said to have competition from Championship side Ipswich Town for Freeman’s signature.
