Paulista can handle Premier League pressure

Wellington Paulista has revealed that he is used to the pressure that playing in the Premier League will bring.

Speaking exclusively to whufc.com, the new Hammers signing said: “"The pressure will not be a problem for me because I am used to it from my time in Brazil, where the fans were really addicted to the club”.

He added: “The manager also put pressure on the players too, so it will be the same playing here. What I am interested in is the passion of the supporters for their team, the way they keep going with the club and the way they make the players perform better.”

The Brazilian forward also admitted that he hopes to have adjusted to life in the England within three months, although he probably won’t be ready to play straight away. He said he knows he needs to work on his strength to be able to compete in the Premier League

Paulista is the second Brazilian to play for West Ham, the first being Araujo Ilan, who had a short loan period in the 2009/2012 season and scored a memorable late diving header equaliser against Everton at Goodison Park, which secured an important point in the Hammers successful battle against relegation. Let’s hope Wellington Paulista too can bring a touch of samba skill to East London!
