West Ham striker leads Mali into Cup of Nation quarter finals

Hammers striker Mobido Maiga played a key role in tonight's final African Cup of Nations group match as he led his international side to a 1-1 draw with DR Congo. The pacy forward, who wears number 11 for the Irons, played a full 90 minutes as Mali gained the draw they needed to progress to the quarter finals. Maiga was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet after he headed wide midway through the first half. Mali will now face hosts South Africa in the last eight and will fancy their chances, as will Maiga, as he aims to be the first West Ham player since Bobby Moore to lift a major international trophy.
