Mad Pog set for West Ham medical

The German newspaper Bild has revealed that former Middlebrough cruncher Emmanuel Pogatetz, now at Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, is set to sign for West Ham on loan till the end of the season. The Austrian international flew to London earlier today to undergo a medical and so is expected to be unveiled as a West Ham player in the next couple of days, subject to agreeing terms. The deal is a loan for the rest of the season, which will set the Hammers back a sum in the region of £500,000; with the option to sign Pogatetz for a further £2 million at the end of the season. The 30 year old will provide competition for Irishman Joey O'Brien at left back, with first choice and third choice Goegre McCartney and Dan Potts both out of action for the time being. Good signing by Big Sam; Pogatetz has five years of Premier League experience behind him and is known for his no-nonsense tackling style- just what we need.
