Media get it wrong again- no substance to Hammers' Jenkinson link

It's definitely silly season still, isn't it? First the Daily Mail faff around with their facts over the future of Momo Diame and now this. Sky Sports, about an hour ago, published a story claiming West Ham, amongst other clubs, had inquired about a loan deal for Arsenal's young defender Carl Jenkinson, and had been knocked back. However, as anyone taking a brief glance at the Hammers' squad list will see, we already have two players on loan in the form of Andy Carroll from Liverpool and Marouane Chamakh from Arsenal. FA rules state that no Premier League club may have more than two players on long term loan contracts from other Premier League teams (both Carroll and Chamakh's loans run till the end of the season so would qualify) meaning that in signing Jenkinson, we would be breaking FA rules. Hardly likely, given the events concerning loan signings which affected us in the 2006/2007 season. One does wonder why some media folk are in a job...
