New twist in Diame saga- Villa interested

In a surprising development to the Mohammed Diame debacle, Sky Sports have reported two things: firstly, an elaboration from West Ham boss Sam Allardyce on his earlier statement of confusion; Big Sam can officially clarify that he has literally no idea what's going on with Diame, particularly who he's signing for (cheers, gaffer.) More interestingly, an unlikely club have joined the race to sign the Senegal international- Aston Villa. The Midlands side; who the Irons were all set to do business with over 31 year old wing back Stephen Warnock, who is expected to be confirmed as a Leeds United player within the next few hours; are now apparently interested in Hammers star Diame, but like Arsenal, Tottenham and any other side that might be interested in the midfielder, have not made an inquiry of any kind. The Villains had not registered any previous interest in Diame, so this latest development comes as something of a surprise. It seems unlikely, however, that the big number 21 will been keen to join a side in relegation trouble so maybe a case of 'as you were'?
