Diarra drama: midfielder says he was lied to over signing for West Ham

Alou Diarra reportedly feels he made a mistake in signing for the Hammers over the summer. In an interview with French sports paper L'Equipe, the French midfielder stated that he felt he'd been "done," by West Ham and there were "a lot of lies" and he realised this just a few weeks after signing.

The man known as "The Tank" in his native France is now reportedly looking for a way out of what Inside Futbol describe as his "nightmare spell at Upton Park,"- with London rivals QPR one of the clubs interested.

Before us Irons jump the gun however, something about this story doesn't quite add up. Diarra was quoted on the club website just last week saying that we needed to pick up more points at home- hardly the comment one would associate with a player intent on leaving. Added to the fact that the story on Inside Futbol cites his lack of appearances as one of the reasons why Diarra is unhappy, one does have to question the validity of the piece; given that the player's injury problems are the reason why he hasn't been playing, as opposed to any potential fall out with the club's management.

It sounds rather likely that Alou Diarra has either been misquoted by L'Equipe or something has been lost in translation between the paper and Inside Futbol. It wouldn't be the first time we've seen an incident like that from a foreign player quoted in the media in his native country...
