Race for Rabiot: Hammers in pole postion to win transfer scramble for French youngster

Paris St Germain youngster Adrien Rabiot has recently been linked with West Ham, as the end of the transfer window closes in on us. The 17 year old midfielder, who only made his first team debut for PSG this season, has been earning rave reviews in France, and has reportedly attracted the attention of the Hammers, as well as West Brom and (quelle surprise) Newcastle. The France Under-19 international is reportedly keen to play more first team football and so a loan or permanent deal at the Boleyn Ground could be on the cards. Should West Ham sign Rabiot, it would be a different type of signing to the ones made so far by manager Sam Allardyce who, after leading the club to promotion in a team largely built around promising young players, has invested almost exclusively in experienced pros such as Jussi Jaaskelainen, James Collins and Alou Diarra so far this term.
