South American prodigy on trial at Boleyn Ground

West Ham have given a trial to Honduran wonderkid Junior Lacayo, say the Express today.

The 17 year old drew the attention of Hammers scouts after a string of impressive performances for hometown club Victoria and has flown to London with chief scout Martin Fajardo.

Lacayo spoke to the press today about his trial and is in confident mood, saying, "I'm very hopeful about landing a move to West Ham. I could assure my family's future."

The youngster is already a full international, having made his debut for Honduras in a World Cup qualifying game in 2012 at the age of just 16, and is already being compared in his home country to Honduran legend Tyson Nunez.

Let's hope Big Sam can make this one count, and not do what Harry Redknapp did with an 18 year Andreiy Shevchenko in 1995...
