Allardyce warns fans of need for transfer market prudence

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has stated, not for the first time, that the club must be careful when delving into the transfer market to strengthen the side this summer in light of the new Premier League financial restrictions.

"The financial restrictions kick in this year and we must be careful where and how we spend our money to try and improve the side, which is something we must do," the Hammers boss told TalkSport this morning.

"It makes life that little more difficult. We'll have to learn to deal with it and hopefully, we can get better despite those restrictions."

Allardyce's chairman, David Gold, issued the same platitudes about the need for financial prudence in his exclusive interview with Blowing Bubbles in our final issue of the season, and told us that 'we can't charge £140 for season tickets and pay Andy Carroll whatever he wants."

The full interview with Gold can be read in the issue, which is completely free and available here.
