West Ham will have to fight off competition from three Premier League rivals if they want to sign Senegal defender Cheikou Kouyate, say the Times.

Big spending Norwich are the latest side to be linked with the defender, who yesterday declared himself open to a move to England, amid report interest from Newcastle, Southampton and the Hammers. French sides Lyon and Marseille are also said to be keen on Kouyate.

Hammers in late surge to snatch Super Hooper

By Alex Shilling, News Editor

West Ham are poised to snatch Gary Hooper away from under the noses of Norwich and QPR, according to the Scottish Sun this evening.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon this afternoon resigned himself to losing his prized asset, telling the Daily Mail that he believed it would be 'hard' for him to convince Hooper to stay at Parkhead and that he doesn't 'know where his [Hooper's] head is at.'

The striker had looked set to join either big spending Norwich or Championship side QPR but Hammers boss Sam Allardyce, who has thus far distanced himself from any of the transfer talk surrounding the former Scunthorpe man, is said to be plotting a late bid, with QPR having made an improved offer for Hooper last night.

QPR make new bid for wantaway Hooper

By Alex Shilling, News Editor

Championship side QPR have made an improved bid for Celtic striker Gary Hooper, Sky Sports reported this evening.

The former Scunthorpe hitman was thought to have told the Glasgow club earlier today of his desire to sign for Norwich, an interesting development which came after sources close to Hooper last week claimed that the 25 year old had set his heart on a move to London to sign for West Ham.

However, the R's have made an improved offer. The details of the bid are not yet known but it is thought likely that the offer will at least match the Canaries' £4m bid for Hooper.

The chase to land Hooper is currently a three-horse race, with Premier League new boys Hull having dropped out of the race last week, but the Irons are slacking in third, having not lodged an official transfer bid for the man who started his career at non league Grays Athletic. More details on this tomorrow.

Hooper tells Bhoys of desire for Norwich move as Canaries close in on Celtic star

Several reports today claim that Celtic striker Gary Hooper has told Scottish champions Celtic of his desire to move to Norwich.

Odds on the striker making the move to Carrow Road this transfer window have been slashed, with the East Anglian side now 1/2 at Sky Bet to land him.

Hooper, 25, was reported last week to have told close friends that he was keen on a move to London to sign for West Ham. However, the Hammers are not believed to have made an official approach for the former Scunthorpe man and Norwich boss Chris Hughton looks likely to seal a deal for the Essex boy in the next few days and gazumph both the Irons and Championship side QPR.

However, Celtic boss Neil Lennon has previously stated that none of his players will be sold at knock-down prices and recently saw midfield man Victor Wanyama move to Southampton for £12m and Norwich's latest bid for Hooper is thought to be some way below the club's valuation of Hooper, according to reports in this morning's Daily Record.

QPR to pounce for Irons target

By Alex Shilling, News Editor

@alexshilling

West Ham could miss out on two strikers in one day, with QPR ready to bid for Celtic's Gary Hooper, according to the Daily Mail.

The Hammers were earlier today reported to have been knocked back by Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku after the Belgian was assured of his first team future and Stamford Bridge and could now lose out on another striking option.

Golden Bhoy Hooper is on Sam Allardyce's radar, with the signing of a strike partner for Andy Carroll the club's top priority, but no bid has yet been made by the Irons.

Championship side QPR look likely, however, to beat the East London side to the signing of Hooper and are said to be ready with a £5m bid.

Norwich were reported to have had three bids knocked back by the Glasgow giants during the January transfer window and are understood to be watching the R's courting of Hooper and any future developments.

Golden Bhoy Gary to swap Hoops for Hammers?

Rumour has it this morning that Celtic striker Gary Hooper is primed to make a summer switch to the Boleyn Ground.

The former Scunthorpe star turned out alongside Hammers stars Kevin Nolan, Andy Carroll and Matt Jarvis on the Cole XI in a memorial game for Irons academy graduate Mitchell Cole and now the powerful 25 year old is being strongly linked with a move to the Boleyn Ground, after a hugely prolific season in Scotland where the former Hereford loanee amassed 29 goals in all competitions.

West Ham's Premier League rivals Norwich made three unsuccessful bids to sign the well-travelled forward in January, and Tottenham have been linked with Hooper in the past. However, with Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas turning his attention to Athletico Madrid's Falcao, the North London side look likely to drop out of the race to prise Hooper away from Celtic Park.

Should the Hammers want to bring the Celtic hitman to East London, their main competition would likely come from newly-relegated Queens Park Rangers, with R's boss Harry Redknapp ready to splash out £6m on the striker this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
