Diame set for Bournemouth return

West Ham midfielder Mohammed Diame could make his first appearance of pre season for the Hammers tomorrow afternoon against Championship new boys Bournemouth.

Co-chairman David Gold tweeted an hour ago: 'Mohamed (sic) Diame is in the squad for tomorrow's game against Bournemouth kick off 3.00pm'.

The midfielder has been the subject of yet more media attention this week after reports that new Everton boss Roberto Martinez is keen to be reunited with the man who he worked with at previous club Wigan. However, claims by various so-called "ITKs" on Twitter that the Senegal international's release clause had been triggered by the Goodison Park club were found to be incorrect and Gold confirmed on Wednesday morning that no inquiry or bid had been lodged for Diame.

Winston wins! Defender crowned Hammer of the Year

West Ham centre half Winston Reid is the 2012/2013 Hammer of the Year after winning a convincing 45% of the vote from Hammers fans.

The New Zealand captain was presented with the award last night at the club's annual Player Awards dinner at Grosvenor House in London.

"It is quite an accolade to be named Hammer of the Year," Reid told whufc.com. "I have basically been here at the club nearly three years and I feel at home, so it's nice to feel appreciated."

"I think every single player believes in themselves and believes they can do well. When you work hard, you get the things you deserve- I'm not saying that in a selfish way because there are a lot of other players who have done well this season. I'm really pleased with the season I have had and I'm looking forward to my holiday and then next season!"

Goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen, who also won the award for Save Of The Season for his save to deny Spurs' Gareth Bale in February, came second while Signing Of The Season winner Mohammed Diame came third.

Well done Winston. Personally, we at Blowing Bubbles think we should all take a moment to remember this wonderful strike last season.

Hammers to curb summer spending to £20m as efforts concentrated on Carroll and Diame

West Ham fans looking forward to a summer of lavish spending in the transfer market are likely to be left disappointed, Sports Direct News are reporting today.

Whilst every effort will be made to secure on loan Liverpool striker Andy Carroll on a permanent deal and talismanic midfielder Mohammed Diame on a long term contract with the removal of the niggling release clause, the two players will likely be the club's only purchases of the summer transfer window, with any other signings coming in the form of loan deals.

The Hammers' hierarchy are reportedly keen to keep their noses clean with regard to new Premier League financial regulations and so will impose a £20m ceiling on the spending on transfer fees and wages, according to the newspaper.

Irons boss Sam Allardyce had warned supporters of the need to be economical in the coming months and so this news does not come as any great surprise.

The club are said to be confident, however, of securing Senegal star Diame on a new contract with the clause removed, and will pull out all the stops to sign England man Carroll as well.
