West Ham are said to be lining up a move for Reading's Pavel Pogrebnyak after the Russian's agent confirmed Premier League interest in the forward.

The Hammers were linked with the former Stuttgart man at the back end of last season but Pogrebnyak himself dismissed reports that at the time he would be leaving the Royals as 'bullshit.'

However, following the club's relegation from the Premier League, the Russia international has said that he would be open to a move away from the club and told Russian football website sovsport.ru that it would be a 'dream' to stay in the English top flight.

He said: "It's true that my dream is to continue my career in England, in the Premier League. But some of my best moments of my career were in Russia- so anything can happen."

Pogrebnyak's agent, Oleg Artemov, confirmed today that his client had received offers from Premier League clubs so the striker is likely to be on the move soon.

Hammers target keen to stay in England after relegation

The agent of Reading striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has told Russian newspaper Sport Express that his client will be looking to stay in England in the event that he leaves the Madjeski Stadium this summer.

The Russian international's five goals this season were not enough to prevent the Royals from Premier League relegation last Sunday and there is likely to be a lot of interest in the 29 year old when the transfer window re-opens later this month.

Pogrebnyak was linked with a summer move to West Ham in March, but rubbished the reports,  describing them in Sport Express as 'bullshit'.

The powerful frontman said at the time that he wouldn't "comment until the end of the championship," and that he would "talk everything over with the president at the end of the season." He was also at pains to point out that "we won't be relegated."

Now that Reading have been relegated, it seems likely that Pogrebnyak will already be thinking about his next move.

His agent, Oleg Artemov, remained cagey on his client's future but implied that talks are already in place with at least one club, saying that "Pavel has a contract with Reading and we don't want to reveal our secrets- until the end of the season we won't say anything."

Artemov could however confirm that the former Stuttgart forward's preference is to remain in England.
