James not jammy- forward planning key for centre half in dominant defensive show

West Ham defender James Collins has revealed a few trade secrets to Sky Sports today and has explained how he shackled liverwire Liverpool star Luis Suarez in yesterday's goalless draw at Anfield.

The Welsh international has been in and out of form this season but has been solid as a rock since returning from a cruciate injury sustained during the 3-0 defeat at Sunderland in January, and barely put a foot wrong yesterday to keep Suarez, who has scored 29 goals this season, quiet on Merseyside yesterday.

"I thought about how I was going to defend against him before the game," Collins said.

"I knew that if you drop off against Suarez, he is running at you and you have to be wary of the fact that he goes over in the box as well, so I thought if I could get as tight as possible and tackle him as high up the pitch as possible, even if I fouled him, that would be better than him running into the box."

The 29 year old made a superb job of getting to grips with the Uruguayan international, and was man of the match as the Irons avoided defeat to Liverpool for the first time in four visits to Anfield, and now Collins wants his teammates to push on until the end of the season.

"Sometimes it's nice to slip under the radar and not have people talking about you, and now we've got our sights set firmly on coming 10th and we don't want to slip up now."

Let's see more of the same, Ginge...
